The patriotic League of Uganda has demanded the National Unity platform president Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to retract his abusive attacks on their league’s chairperson, General Muhoozi Keinerugaba which he made while at a rally in Soroti City last week.

Kyagulanyi is alleged to have uttered abusive statements against President Yoweri Museveni and PLU chairman General Muhoozi Keinerugaba, that Muhoozi and his father regard them as slaves.

Addressing the media at PLU offices in Naguru (Kampala) the PLU Director in charge of mobilization Micheal Mawanda said that it's not true that their chairman Keinerugaba sees people of Teso and Uganda as slaves as alluded to by Kyagulanyi .

Mawanda who is the Member of Parliament for Igara East said that Keinerugaba has been a hard working person in his entire life in various capacities and cannot think that way.

He asked the National Unity Platform party president to find other ways of soliciting for his support rather than concentrating his energies on people who, out of their sacrifices, liberated the country and stabilized it both economically and politically.

“We would like to request our brother and leader of NUP to desist from the politics of name–calling or telling lies about people who don’t share the same ideology with his”, said Mawanda.

He said that “Robert Kyagulanyi to make himself relevant has embarked on attacking and insulting good intentioned people who don’t believe in his archaic methods of work and cheap popularity,he is fond of attacking senior citizens without any due respect as if he is a focused politician whereas is not, this behavior is totally unacceptable by Ugandans who equally understand where Uganda has come from, where it is now and where it is going”.

Mawanda also demands Kyagulanyi to apologize to both the President and the PLU chairman General Muhoozi Keinerugaba, saying both mean well for the country and all Ugandans.

“He said that the PLU fraternity therefore condemns this act in the strongest terms possible and demands that Kyagulanyi Sentamu apologize to president Museveni, there chairman General Muhoozi Keinerugaba and Ugandans at large who mean well for this country“.
